Q. Won’t my personal health insurance cover me if I get hurt?
A. While you may be covered, you will need to pay all costs up front for any treatments/medical expenses and/or hospital stay. Then you must file a claim with your health insurance company when you arrive back in the States for possible reimbursement. Medical expenses filed with Allianz Global Assistance may also require payment in full while on your trip. A claim for possible reimbursement can be filed upon your return.
Q. What if I have Medicare? Will that cover possible medical expenses?
A. While Medicare will not cover for medical expenses outside of the USA, a program called Medigap does have some partial coverage. Please contact Medicare for more details.
Q. What about terrorism?
A. Terrorist activity is now considered a covered reason* for cancellation under certain circumstances. Allianz Global Assistance believes in protecting their clients to the best of their ability. In this new age, Allianz Global Assistance has expanded its coverage. Coverage may be provided when terrorist activity occurs within 30 days prior to your departure in a city you are traveling to or through.
However, this does not include any area you may be traveling through that has any kind of current public announcement, travel advisory, or travel warning in place through the State Department Website.
Q. What if I lose my job?
A. Allianz Global Assistance understands that job stability is a major consideration when preparing to travel. If you have been terminated by your employer, your situation may be a covered reason for cancellation.*
Q. What does the term “Existing Medical Condition” mean and why is it so important to me?
A. All of us are sometimes faced with situations that may cause us to cancel our travel plans due to health conditions. These conditions may involve not only ourselves, but family members and travel companions as well. If you purchase your travel protection within 14 days of placing a deposit on your trip with Dehoney Travel, you may be covered for any pre-existing condition in existence within 120 days’ prior to your deposit.* View additional information here
